The winds came to over 25 knots last night and we put the first reef in the main. We are doing 8-10 knots through the water, but the ride is very rough. It didn’t say anything about this is the brochure. We have distanced ourselves from the big island and size and shape of the swells are more livable. So instead of every 3rd wave splashing into the cockpit it’s down to every 10th wave. The temps are the same. Boat is still button up tight. The raw water pump for the generator has quit again, and I swap it for the spare, again.

The boom vang broke free of the boom last night. It’s hanging there by half the vang attachment point. This was the same part that we fixed on the TransPac 3 or 4 times, but this is the other end. On TransPac it was the mast attachment, today it was the boom attachment. This will probably require a new boom because when it blew out it took part other integral track on the bottom side of the boom with it. It’s not a problem for now I created a rope harness by which we can affect the downward force of the vang. The remaining attachment tab will at the boom support.
