| Dateline May19 1999: TransPac99 the big daddy of all Pacific races was running this year. We started months ago preparing for the race. Catching with deferred maintenance left over from last year: broken generator mounts, Gel coat repairs that were not fixed last year, and the list goes on and on. | Of course entering a race like this (for me) is less about racing, and more about going to sea with friends and boat that I know well. But going to sea was the real excuse - but hey who needs an excuse. Hawaii was just the first stop on a longer itinerary. | |
